Data Science and Cybersecurity Center (DSC2)

About

The Data Science and Cybersecurity Center (DSC2) was formed as part of a new initiative at Howard University to create a world-class center for cybersecurity, cyber-event forecasting, cyber-actor behavior understanding, threat intelligence, threat modeling and analysis, cyber resiliency and defense, and data science. This initiative begins with a collaborative cohort of researchers drawn from multiple disciplines to solving the most critical problems related to cybersecurity and data science. It leads and promotes the mission of the College of Engineering and Architecture - to provide faculty and students the opportunity to work on contemporary technological innovation related to cybersecurity that mirrors today’s industry and society.

Mission

The mission of the Data Science and Cybersecurity Center is to engage in research in order to make fundamental contributions that are applicable to real-world problems to benefit the greater good, and to promote learning experiences in the areas of cybersecurity and data sciences for emerging networked cyber physical systems and Internet-of-Things for the benefit of Howard University and society at large.

People

A team of dedicated faculty and students work in the center. The team members, who have diverse and multi-disciplinary expertise, are making advances in the dynamic and cross-cutting field of cybersecurity for networked systems (Smart Cities, Intelligent Transportation Systems, Smart Grid, Internet of Things, Smart Building, Critical Infrastructure). More information on team members.

Research

The center provides a unique platform and supports a collaborative cohort of researchers dedicated to solving the most critical problems related to cybersecurity. It is committed to cross-cutting research to make fundamental contributions to defend the cyber and physical worlds to benefit the greater good.
